Cool new hotspot in Suomenlinna: Café Icecellar
Café Icecellar is located in Iso Mustasaari, near the Military Museum’s Manege. The cafe serves all visitors to Suomenlinna during normal opening hours, and is responsible for the catering at evening events. The cafe is open throughout the year.
Icecellar was built in 1898 as storage space for the officer’s barracks. An icebox of sorts, it was kept cool with blocks of ice sawed off the fresh water pans on the island.
Concerts and performances will be organized during next months, since many well-known Finnish actors and musician work and live in Suomenlinna.
The waterbus stops at the Visitor Centre pier during summer, and the cafe is about 200 metres from there. The Helsinki City Transport ferry operates to the main pier throughout the year, and from there the cafe is about 500 metres away.
