In late summer, Finland’s largest arts festival will be treating audiences to an exciting line up of world premiers and mega productions as well as the chance to see a number of artists on their debut visit to Finland.

Cirque Eloize (2009) @ Théâtre T & Cie, Valérie Remise / Helsinki Festival

New circus is strongly represented in the 2012 Helsinki Festival programme. Cirque Eloize, one of the world’s largest new circus troupes, will premiere their latest production in Helsinki.

The estimable Leipzig-based Gewandhaus Orchestra will have their first concert in Finland during Helsinki Festival.

La Commedia @ Viola Berlanda / Helsinki Festival

La Commedia is the last part in a four-part series inspired by Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy. This glorious contemporary dance performance laughs out-loud all the way from hell to paradise.

In keeping with the long-running Helsinki Festival tradition, the Huvila Festival Tent will see performances every night of the festival run. Luminous women appearing at the venue include, for example, unique vocal stylings of Zap Mama and strong and emotional interpreter Suvi Teräsniska.
