The Masters of Aalto Year Show presents the future through the eyes of the newly graduates as well as research and study projects from Aalto University. The exhibition started at the School of Art and Design as Masters of Arts, and now it has become Masters of Aalto, open for all Masters of Arts, Engineers and Economists throughout Aalto University. This makes the exhibition unique, and there is room for studies, project reports and presentations or discussions. This time, in addition to the exhibition as a core event, MoA’12 offers the public a wide variety of public events like seminars, film screenings, and workshops.

“We create and live the future in this moment.”

The newly graduated masters are confident about their future when presenting their theses from the fields of art, technology and economics. This year’s theme is Our Future is (a) Present. The common theme in the projects presented in MoA’12, is creating a better, more equal and more functioning world.

The seminar Designing for a Sustainable Future on May 29th, showcases how to design more liveable and sustainable living environments. Among the speakers addressing the seminar will be Toshiko Mori, architect and professor at Harvard University.

The year show will enliven the future living area and enviroment of Jätkäsaari, first by taking over a 100-year old port warehouse designed by Lars Sonck, converting a disused warehouse space into a vibrant environment.

MoA’12 is part of Aalto University’s Living+ programme to celebrate the World Design Capital Helsinki 2012.

MoA’12 is open daily from 9 May to 3 June 2012 in Jätkäsaari, Helsinki (Harbour warehouse L3/Tyynenmerenkatu 6). Free entrance.
