HEL_FWRD/Fashion Village showcases Finnish Fashion at the Senate Square in the beginning of August!

A new, modern, interactive fashion event HEL_FWRD/Fashion Village takes over the Senate Square from August 4th. This free-of-charge event offers everyone a chance to purchase products designed by 18 renowned Finnish designers, showcasing their work in the unique, historic surroundings of the Senate Square!

For two weeks the event will gather together the most interesting current names in Finnish fashion and enliven the historical square with an atmosphere filled with fashion, beauty and style. You will have a chance to shop for the latest collections, get to know designers, as well as participate in different kinds of events in the heart of the city!

HEL_FWRD/Fashion Village will be constructed using shipping containers provided by the Port of Helsinki. The event headquarters Maja has been designed by well-known Finnish-Japanese designer Naoto Niidome.

HEL_FWRD/Fashion Village also brings about various sub events around the city. Design Forum organizes a panel discussion with the industry professionals on the development and export of Finnish fashion. The latest collections of participating brands will also be seen in a fashion show organized in co-operation with the magazine Costume.

The designers and brands taking part in the event are Aiku Design, Camilla Mikama, Costo, Hankala, Ivana Helsinki, Johanna Gullichsen, Jolier, Katri/n, Lumi, Makia, Minna Hepburn, Mirkka Metsola, moimoi, Nanso, Noolan, Olav by Jussi Salminen, R/H, Samuji, Tiia Vanhatapio, and Villawool.

HEL_FWRD/ Fashion Village is organised by Lumi Accessories  and it’s part of the official World Design Capital Helsinki 2012 programme.
