The first Finnish restaurant, G.W. Sundmans, receives internationally acclaimed wine award
G.W. Sundmans has been awarded with the ”Best of Award of Excellence” award by American Wine Spectator magazine. No other Finnish restaurant has yet received this particular award, and since it is considered the Michelin ranking of wine lists, the award is significant within the wine industry.
This award is given to restaurants which wine lists offer an exceptionally wide range of wines, go perfectly together with the restaurant’s menu and that appeals to many kinds of wine enthusiasts.
The wine list should include both vintage vines that one can buy by the bottle and a versatile selection of wines available by the glass. Worldwide 835 restaurants have been awarded with this title.
G.W. Sundmans has over 500 wines on its wine list, on which it has combined classical wines from traditional wine regions with rare and modern quality wines from smaller producers.
The restaurant is also known as a pioneer concerning the presentation of its wine list. As the first restaurant in Finland the restaurant uses, besides the traditionally printed wine list, a Winebook iPad application. The application functions as a multifaceted wine search engine and informative application. Winebook makes it easier for the customer to choose a wine from the wine list, and assists even the personnel in finding the right wine for the customers.
Have you already tried the Winebook iPad application? What do think about these kinds of wine search engines?
