The coffee shop La Torrefazione, which has garnished the busy shopping street Aleksanterinkatu’s street view since 2009, has made it into its mission to constantly develop products and expand its product range. The coffee shop is often considered to be a stylish mix between Italy, New York and the Nordic countries with influences from all of these areas. The personnel, both down-to-earth and proficient, make each visit pleasant. This spring’s new coffee novelties are coffee brands from Ethiopia and El Salvador.

The coffee coming from Ethiopia is called Nekisse and known as the champagne of coffees which is had, usually due to its price, only at special festive occasions. The coffee beans are cultivated on volcanic soil which explains its rarity.

The Arabica coffee bean ensures a soft taste, where even nuances of berries and citrus fruits are found. A cup of the champagne of coffee types will cost you around 5€, but you can also buy yourself a pack of 100 grams for around 10€.

At La Torrefazione you do not merely enjoy delicious coffee and tea types, but also refreshing breakfast and lunches, which usually consist of salads or pasta meals.

The barista Jens Hampf recommends, both to Helsinkians and travelers, La Torrefaziones specialty; coffees made in a French press. He has also noticed that the coffee shops visitors have taken liking to their ciabattas with parma ham and mozzarella.

The success story continues. One clear sign of this is the fact that the owners have promised La Torrefazione a sibling, a new coffee shop addition, within this year.
